Description

With 98% of its land blanketed by lush forests, Jinfong Township features the largest natural forest of 47,000 hectares in Taiwan. It is also blessed with geothermal springs and diverse ecology that leads to a charming landscape.
Jinfong Township, with a population of approximately 3,721 residents, comprises five villages, including 29 indigenous communities predominantly inhabited by the Paiwan and Rukai tribes. Highlighting the wisdom of indigenous peoples coexisting with the natural landscape, Jinfong Township declared the "First Year of Jinfong Cultural Autonomy" in 2020, putting forth vital strategies for the future generations. These strategies include fostering smart agriculture, intergenerational inclusivity, youth engagement, and ensuring environmental sustainability, tourism and recreation. Through collaborative efforts with the communities, the township is designing a roadmap for the future, leveraging new concepts and action plans to interpret regional characteristics and create a sustainable and livable environment.
Jinfong Township joined the Asian Local Governments for Organic Agriculture (ALGOA) in June 2023, committing to advancing the organic industry and engaging in global exchanges on sustainable agriculture. Embracing the Satoyama initiative, Jinfong aims to cultivate a quality organic agriculture brand, fostering both environmental sustainability and local economic growth.
