| Description | Global Seed Savers Philippines organizes, educates, and mobilizes smallholder and family farmers in creating seed sovereignty and fostering sustainable communities and regenerative ecosystems. Founded in 2011, Global Seed Savers (GSS) works at a grassroots level to return farmers to the collective indigenous knowledge and practice of saving seeds, growing food and celebrating heritage. GSS’s mission is to organize, educate, and mobilize smallholder and family farmers in creating seed sovereignty and fostering sustainable communities and regenerative ecosystems. Since 2011, GSS has expanded to bring on local Filipino leadership, launched its signature Seed School, established Global Seed Savers Philippines (GSSP), a counterpart, in-country NGO, and created two seed production sites. Through programming, GSS/P has trained more than 5,500 farmers and 100 farmer leaders as Seed School teachers, has established 16 Seed Saving Communities, and has formed partnerships with 14 local organizations and local government units. |
