| 6 - Case studies of food systems | Case studies and "action research" concerning: (i) The development of school gardens as sites for teaching, learning, food production, consumption and innovation: Production of a multiplicity of traditional crops and the development and documentation of local "green" platesserved to schoool children in the Creole language. (ii) Teachers, pupils and parents/CSOs cooperate on project development and engage in advocacy vis-à-vis authorities for food security/sustainable diet for school children and appropriate teaching material in Creole. The project will make possible learning experiences across geerations and extension to the local community and beyond. (iii) he process of transformation of eroded and deforested soils around the schools into fertile,productive land by the application of the techniques and knowledge of organic farming (inclduing natural barriers and other soil conservation methods) under semitropical conditions and variable degrees of inclination. |
