| 1 - Set of principles and attributes | My research has been on the Brazilian food policies, such as school feeding programs, public purchases and social assistance programs, considered the most important within the Zero Hunger Program. I’m studying the impact of these programs on food security, the promotion of sustainable food systems and their efficiency. |
| 2 - Drivers and indicators of sustainable production and consumption | Currently, my research is about sustainable diets. I’m revising the literature on the subject and in Brazil I’m analyzing the sustainability of the restaurant menus of the federal universities of the south country, trying to identify their characteristics and who are the important drivers in the sustainable transition. |
| 5 - Training and education tools | In the next year, we will do an e-learning course for different target groups – stakeholders, policy makers, farmers, managers and technicians about public food procurement in restaurants of the federal universities promoting the sustainable food acquisitions. Production of handbook material is also foreseen. |
| 6 - Case studies of food systems | Case study about the process of change in the food public procurement in the universities restaurants in the south Brazil for sustainable acquisitions. We are studying how a law that requires all federal institutions to buy food from family farmers (preferably organic foods) is being or not implemented and why. |
| 7 - Workshops/roundtables | A workshop with stakeholders to present research data, exchange information and think about solutions to problems that prevent restaurants from buying food from family farmers will be planned. This will happen before the e-learning course, as it will serve as a subsidy for the classes and handbook. |
