| 1 - Set of principles and attributes | 1. Teaching and giving advice on biodynamic agriculture (Bd), nutrition and human development to multi-stakeholders: production, logistics, market, administrations and finance, organic and Demeter certification, etc. 2. One thing very important to teach is a new human nutrition concept related to human development: how increasing vital forces (vitality, health (life) and ethics in foods with Bd and anthroposophy knowledge. 3. My experiences of the last 32 years in organic and Demeter food production systems (teacher and adviser): sugar, fruits, meet, milk, vegetables, seeds, flowers, etc. I should mention that from 2000 to 2012 I was a Demeter Bd producer at the San Francisco Farm: bananas (main culture), coconut, seed, meat and milk. |
| 2 - Drivers and indicators of sustainable production and consumption | 1. Helping people to understand itself in relationship with the planet on its actual unsustainable balance, man and nature. The planet is in a collusion course: landscape (soil, water distribution inequality, biodiversity elimination, ozone depletion, global warming, etc.) and social erosion (miserable increase, health decrease, food imbalance). 2. Helping people to answer themselves and act: what is my contribution to the actual state of the planet and relate with the nature resources and society, who I am in this unsustainable picture, what is going on around me, what I can do to help the planet and man, how I can overcome myself contributing to a sustainable planet with a sustainable food system. 3. This diagnosis comes from a nutritional issue and is related with how man think (cultural life), feel (political-juridic life) and want (will, act) (economic life). We can help people to feed themselves correctly with a new model of food consumption and production, a sustainable one, organic, biodynamic. 4. Key tool: Feeding a new man with vitality, heaths and ethics / feeding the think, feel and will of human being. |
| 3 - Actual data on sustainable production and consumption | I dispose approximately 7 years of data and results of monitoring and benchmarking coming from San Francisco Farm (SFF). SFS that was sold in 2012. These biodynamic bananas internal market project begin in 2000. The farm had 30 ha of bananas production, the total area of the farm was 250 ha. SFF was the most organic Demeter Bd project in Brasil, Demeter SFS Bananas were the Cassino Group champion product (biggest financial volume and sales amount). SFF was located in north of the Mina Gerais State. |
| 4 - Policy reform proposals/arguments | 1. As important as CO2 in global warming in N2O coming from synthetic nitrogenous fertilizers from conventional agriculture. Sustainable food production, organic and Bd reduce significantly N2O (biblio above). 2. I published in 98 how synthetic fertilizers and pesticides impact man, food atmosphere, water and soil (related site citation above) 3. 40% of world agricultural area is in erosion process (degraded areas) due to conventional agriculture (biblio above). Sustainable food production increase quality in the landscape, SFF is an example. 4. Soil renewal is in dependence of soil biodiversity. Sustainable food production ensures the renewal of this essential attribute of life, conventional agriculte not. I wrote about this in several articles (biblio links). 5. Organic and Bd Demeter food persists much more on the shelves (stores, supermarkets etc.), the loss reduction is much more important, the economy is better, everybody make more money, it´s possible to reduce the price and less loss means more durability, more life in food, and more health to human being. |
| 5 - Training and education tools | 1. I was a coordinator of two books (above), author of another one (in press) and author of several related articles (above). 2. I´m also a director of the Brazilian Biodynamic Association (ABD) where we have a several materials mentioned above. |
| 6 - Case studies of food systems | 1. As an organic and Bd Demeter adviser I worked only in Brasil, in Amazonia region (Rain Forest), Central West region (Cerrado, Savannah) and Southeast region (Atlantic Forest and Cerrado). 2. SFF was located in the transitional ecosystem, San Francisco Dry Forest, between arid region (northeast) and cerrado in the north of Minas Gerais State. 3. One time out side off Brazil I just make the nutritional balance to a Mexican Demeter Coffee (Finca Irlanda) from faraway. |
