Deliverable Notes
- Set of principles and attributesBy setting up a project aiming at developingand establishingworking models (incl.monitoring and evaluation tools) facilitating local farming communities to recognisethe impact of sustainable(organic) food systems (SFS) value-chainson sustainability aspects such as local agrobiodiversity, and use these for improving quality of life in the region of Eastern Rhodope mountains, Bulgaria.
- Drivers and indicators of sustainable production and consumptionDocumented, adopted and disseminated models, containing monitoring and implementationmechanisms and tools, enabling (organic)farmers to identify and valuate uniqueregional(local)agrobiodiversity and itscontributionto existing regional/local SFPvalue-chains(e.g. cereals, wine, herbs, sesame-tahni or others).
- Actual data on sustainable production and consumptionDeveloping common protocols forquantifyingcausal relationships between biodiversity of plant and animal indicator-species in regional agroecosystems(e.g. cereals, grapes, herbs, sesame, sheep-grazing, etc.) and agro-management practices. Collectingdata and prioritisingfactors determining the balance between ecological intensification (incl. functional biodiversity) of diverseagrosystemsto support the design and assessment of regional SFP chains/systems.
- Policy reform proposals/argumentsPromote and scale-up the use of proven tools that assess and visualize best practices related to efficient / sustainable natural resource use at regional level and best nutrition practices,i.a.including effective and reliable certification and standardswithin at least6 miunicipalities of the target region.

- Case studies of food systemsSelectingat least 6 pilot (test) best-performing regional SFP value-chains(e.g. cereals, wine, herbs, sesame-tahni or others), assessingand analysingfactors determining the balance between eco-intensification (incl. functional biodiversity) and SFP, including transformation processes, and promote/demonstrate the results of selected case-studies (incl. marketing approachese.g. local brand, regional sales, website and social media, ‘celebrity chef’, eco-hotels, etc.).
- Workshops/roundtablesSetting up and make operational anInformation and Communication Plan (ICP) with a ‘raising-awareness and raising-knowledge’ activitiesfor organic and sustainable farmers and/or cooperatives on ‘local/regional agrobiodiversity value for local/regional SFP value-chains’.Providesupport for sustainability initiatives in schools and other public institutions that include consumptionfrom regional SFP value-chains.
- Clusters/knowledge sharingSetting up and running a Local Coalition/Network of OFSP experts and experts from Slow Food Bulgaria, Local Food Bulgaria, Foundation New Thracian Gold, Association for Sustainable Tourism, Foundation Avalon-Bulgaria, Bulgarian Society for Bird Protection, Municipalitiesof Ivaylovgrad and Kardzhali, etc. to support the SFP initiativesand disseminate project deliverables.
