1 - Set of principles and attributes | The role of chemical-free, safe and nutritious food is important in nurturing healthy individuals. I strongly believe that food sustainability measures are an effective way to enhance both personal and planetary health because food should be safe and nutritious, envoronmentally sustainable and socio-economically viable. With this objective, I am inclined to collaborate with the Project Consortia in its mission to build awareness abaout the impact of food sustainability and dietary patterns on health. The following attributes will be covered to achieve the intended deliverable: a) Awareness about food adulteration with chemicals or otherwise; b) Food Safety norms; and c) Responsibility of every citizen in contributing and maintaining a safe food environment. |
2 - Drivers and indicators of sustainable production and consumption | The following attributes will be covered for capacity building in sustainable production and consumption: a) On farm and in process organic production methods for sustainable production; b) Measures needed for preventing contamination for Good Hygienic Practices; and c) Dietary requirements, consumption patterns of various food categories for a balanced nutrition. |
3 - Actual data on sustainable production and consumption | Current status on Organic agriculture related to area, production and consumption data will be collected of various key identified states in India for assessment and bench marking. The sources of collection of information will primarily be the Government (Ministry of Agriculture, Commerce and FSSAI), but also from the privat sector including certifiers. |
4 - Policy reform proposals/arguments | The information willt be analysed that how many countrys in the region have adopted organic legislation and wether they have national production standards. Equivalence agreements and market acceptance through recognition of the standards, conformity assessment procedures will be examined for making policy arguments. The aspect of sustainable food production will also be covered, in particular, of various countries with existing and non-existing legislation for making practical policy recommendations. |
5 - Training and education tools | Different existing curricula and syllabi of schools and universities level will be reviewed in this region. Capacity building programmes through various training material, websites, e-learning programmes will also be collected and exmained and recommendations will be made. |
6 - Case studies of food systems | The existing different packages of practice of identified crops and conditions will be collected and studied for the specific regions to recommend sustainability patterns required to enhance priduction. This activity will be carried out in collaboration with agriculture scientist in the region. |
7 - Workshops/roundtables | Will conduct workshops in the identified regions for different stakeholders including concerned Government Departments for exchange of information related to organic production standards and adoption of packages of practice for sustainable production and consumption patterns and efforts taken to transformation in this process. Case studies will be carried out to assess the transformation processes for attaining sustainability in production and consumption. |
8 - Clusters/knowledge sharing | A number of sucessful and failure case studies will be prepared on the efforts taken and how the transformation process has taken place in different countries in the region. This will be achieved by interacting with multi stakeholders in the specified countries. Analyses will be carried out by covering the existing tools in the specified countries to identify the positive indicators for recommending how to increase the efficacy of food production and consumption patterns. |
