Deliverable Notes
- Set of principles and attributesFiBL is contributing to this deliverable with its modelling work and the work on sustainability assessment of food systems, where the focus is on sustainable food systems and ways to assess their performance. Currently, such work is funded under several ongoing projects, e.g. from the Swiss National Science Foundation.
- Drivers and indicators of sustainable production and consumptionFiBL contributes to this in the course of the projects that also contributed to deliverable 1, cf. above.
- Actual data on sustainable production and consumptionFiBL contributes to this in particular with work on sustainability assessment with the SMART tool, but also with the work on systems comparisons in the tropics, etc.
- Policy reform proposals/argumentsThis is often not a focus in the current projects of FiBL – but most of them usually have a part covering policy recommendations, etc. – We also work repeatedly of NGOs and other institutions in small projects e.g. on topical reports where policy recommendations play a strong role. We generally aim to providing concrete recommendations, as often, policy recommendations are kept too general and unspecific to be of any use. Concrete recommendations bear the danger to be contested, but this is the only way to trigger fruitful discussion that can refer, support or challenge to concrete suggestions thus pushing the issues further.
- Training and education toolsFiBL does ample extension and communication work on a large number of issues. We have a whole department dealing with these aspects and thus can contribute broadly to that.
- Case studies of food systemsThe rural-sociology work in the socio-economics department deals with such questions and have some case-study information at hand that could be used – further will be added in ongoing and future projects; thus, FiBL has some background to the contribute to this as well.
- Workshops/roundtablesIn many projects of FiBL, such exchange opportunities are undertaken or envisaged for the future.
- Clusters/knowledge sharingIn some projects, FiBL also work with such structures or aims at establishing such.
