Deliverable Notes
1 - Set of principles and attributesOCA is a fairly young entity born out of the need to address the critical gap of consumer awareness and informed healthy consumption, based on robust robust scientific evidence, to improve nutritional and health outcomes, as part of the “pulling the chain” aspects of the agroecological organic value chain, specifically and more broadly as part of the sustainable continuum of mitigation climate change, improving food security and soil enrichment based on biodiverse and locally based and farmer focused approaches to sustainable development within the wider framework of the sustainable development goals(SDGs) and in alignment with WHO and FAO recommendations, on the need for a shift from conventional agrochemical based farming to agroecological organic farming and food productions systems to achieve the triple outcomes ofplanet health, human health and ecosystem health. Towards that end our focus is working with all value chain stakeholders, from farmers to consumers and policy makers to advovate for evidence based policy and practice shift to mainstream agroecological organic approaches. We create and share information on our website in addition to direct involvement with stakeholders in our awareness creation and policy advocacy activities:Examples here below: http://organicconsumers.co.ke/112-diversified-food-security-agro-ecology-in-practise-inspiring-local-examples.htmlhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RuzrEV3WhLAhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=htpmhmcYRH8.
2 - Drivers and indicators of sustainable production and consumptionIn simple terms our work will contribute to this deliverable by a focus on creating demand for agroecological approaches as the mainstay of sustainable diets, by demonstrating, with evidence, that these foods and nutrients are superior and more sustainable than conventional foods via promotion of lifestyle changes based on nutrition: Here below some examples of our interventions and activities, towards that end.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7oIjByRhgVwhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=htpmhmcYRH8.
