1 - Set of principles and attributes | Sustained working with the stakeholders including international organisations towards transformation for adoption of organic practices and consumption will help in the overall well being programme in the target areas. This process will empower communities and helpaccelerate maintaining sustainability in safe food production and environment. |
2 - Drivers and indicators of sustainable production and consumption | A high level of commitment by farmers, processors and State Government needs to nurtured. The process will include connecting them through practical approaches for adoption of different organic practises and end-to-end solutions. Working with the international organications and other stakeholders for development of organic villages for eco-tourism support long-term sustainability. |
3 - Actual data on sustainable production and consumption | Assessment of production and consumption patterns in India and other countries are important for developing further plans for developing programmes on a long-term basis. Leveraging local resources and knowledge can be useful. |
4 - Policy reform proposals/arguments | Participate in setting national/ regional standards for implementation of organic production practices in a uniform manner. Harmonization of national legislation determintaion of equivalence will support sustainable development. |
5 - Training and education tools | Class-room and field-level awareness and training programmes will be useful. In addition, development of brochures, fliers and short videos for target groups will be used. Short quiz competitions among farmers and school( college level students have been seen to be effective tools for generating greater awareness and better understanding of the objectives. |
6 - Case studies of food systems | Existing organic traditional practises in different agro-climatic conditions need to be assessed and applied as necessary in the target countries/ regions. Work done by NGOs could be useful for synergy. |
7 - Workshops/roundtables | Bringing together stakeholders like farmers, Government officials, NGOs for awareness sessions and training are importent. The programmes will focus on sustainable organic farming practices, GAP/ GHP and consumption in institutional canteen, hospitals and as mid-day meals in schools. |
8 - Clusters/knowledge sharing | A number of sucessful and failure case studies can be studied and documented on the initiatives taken and how the transformation process has taken place in different countries in the region. |
